February 23, 2026
The gym at Mt. Royal Mennonite Church, where MyHumanitas Winter Camp was held, was filled with laughter and high energy last week as we hosted our Winter Camp 2026. Supported by the Community Initiatives Fund (CIF), this four-day event turned the chilly February break into a vibrant celebration of creativity, athleticism, and culture for local youth.
A Week of Highlights
The camp kicked off on Day One with an electric atmosphere. After breaking the ice with get-to-know-you games, campers hit the basketball court and joined our talented instructors and volunteers for the first of many high-energy dance sessions.
By Day Two, even a Saskatchewan snowstorm couldn’t dampen the spirits inside. We were honoured to host Ms. Kristine Enns-Kavanagh from the Saskatchewan History & Folklore Society, who led a hands-on button-making workshop where every child designed a unique keepsake.

2026 Winter Camp – Parents Feedbacks & Comments
“Thank you so much for providing a wonderful week of camp for the kiddos! My 8 year old had a blast and i’m grateful he had the opportunity to make new friends and get his zoomies out.“
“To all the amazing organizers and volunteers of My Humanitas. I just want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the love, time, and effort you poured into making this such a wonderful experience for the kids. Your dedication, patience, and kindness truly made a difference, and it means so much to families like ours. Thank you for creating a safe, fun, and meaningful environment where our children could learn, grow, and make beautiful memories. We appreciate each and every one of you more than words can say.”
Day Three reached a fever pitch with “Third Day Magic.” The gym was transformed into a gallery of characters thanks to a spectacular face-painting station. Between the face painting and the “pure fire” skills on the basketball court, the energy in the building was truly unforgettable.
We saved the most meaningful moments for Day Four. The final day focused on Indigenous Storytelling and Cultural Appreciation. We were privileged to witness a powerful performance by Mr. Parker Neveu and his team, fostering a deep sense of connection to the land and its traditional caretakers. We concluded our journey with a community feast prepared, sharing a final meal as one big camp family.
A Community Effort
This successful week was the result of incredible teamwork. We extend our deepest gratitude to:
• Our Volunteers & Youth Leaders: Who showed up with passion to guide our younger campers.
• The Creative Team: Including our dance instructors, photographers, and sound operators.
• The Community Initiatives Fund (CIF): Whose funding makes these programs accessible and impactful for all children in our city.
As we look back on the smiles and new friendships formed, we are already dreaming of our next season. Thank you to the parents for your trust and to the children for bringing so much light to MyHumanitas. Thanks to all of our amazing volunteers, and to the Community Initiatives Fund (CIF) for funding this 4-day camp, which is accessible to many youths of our city.
Until next season, stay kind, keep smiling and shining!
