We are a newly established family-centric, non-profit organization founded in Saskatoon, SK, by a diverse group of individuals united by purpose and passion for promoting kindness, support and a sense of humanity. Our mission is to serve our community by partnering with our government & other agencies to help meet the needs of families, parents, and individuals within our city and surrounding areas. Our vision is to organize, implement and execute nurturing and youth empowerment programs that will help enhance the lives of many children, young people, and their families.
Week 1: We started the day by having sign-in registrations to verify all participating kids. Our talented Ate Erica led an art session that sparked the creativity and imagination of the kids. Each child had a blast building their wooden birdhouse, bringing it to life with a colourful splash of water-based paint. After that, they had their well-deserved snacks for a break. To help these kids stay energized and motivated during the two-hour program, we provided them with snacks/drinks every week. The excitement continued with a dance session led by the dynamic duo Gladys and Alyannah. Our young shakers showcased the most impressive dance moves, spreading joy and positive vibes that first day.
Week 2: Our happy campers returned for the second week and did an excellent job making friendship bracelets and beaded necklaces. The kids were so proud of their work that they wore them during the fun dance session.
Week 3: The kids had fun doing this week’s activities as usual. They enjoyed the dance session led by the talented choreographers Ate Gladys and Ate Alyannah. After that, Big sister Khalin and our volunteer artists led face-painting activities in which the kids and volunteers had a blast unleashing their creativity. The kids were so excited to have their faces painted with cool designs. They loved being able to express themselves with the colours and images that were available. From fierce superheroes to graceful butterflies, their imaginations know no bounds! It was an excellent way for them to express their creativity and have fun at the same time.
Week 4: The children expressed their artistic talents by painting on miniature canvases, channelling their inner Picasso. They then proceeded to have their typical dance session. The facilitator discussed with them and encouraged them to engage in creative activities to help them stay active and imaginative.
Week 6: Gladys and Alyannah started the evening with their dance session as we concluded this season’s program. The children were thrilled as they showcased the dance skills they learned, and the cheers from the audience made them even more excited. The award-winning artist Curtis Peeteetuce, alongside 14 talented young dancers from St. Frances Cree School, also graced the event. They performed in sacred traditional Indigenous clothing called Regalia. They captivated the evening with their presence and dancing skills, displaying the beauty of Indigenous culture. We thank Mr. Peetetuce and his talented students from St. Frances for sharing our beautiful culture with our winter program’s children.
Our winter program was a great success, thanks to everyone who helped make it happen. We also thank our youth leaders, Gladys Tingot, Alyannah Ablan, and Erica Lazaro, for assisting and working alongside the MyHumanitas Family with this program. Additionally, we would like to extend our appreciation to our talented volunteers, Nica Esguerra, Salina Tran, Iestin Abrenica, Allec San Jose, Ian Asuncion, Franc Obilo, and Khalin Mangampo, who have contributed to the success of our activities.
